Filming of No Good Deeds began in April 2012 in Atlanta, Georgia.[2] The film's storyline follows a former District Attorney turned stay-at-home mom (Henson) and her two small children who are terrorized and kidnapped after she invites a handsome but mysterious stranger (Elba) into their home to wait for help after his car runs off the road.[3] Will Packer produced the film through his company Rainforest Films, with Elba and Rob Hardy serving as executive producers.[4]

In early October 2013, Screen Gems once again pushed backed the release date of the film to September 12, 2014.[5]
