The Nkrumah University is Zambia's largest teacher training university, founded in 1971. It has a student population of about 6,000.

Organisation

Governance The Board is in charge of policy making in the institution. It has representatives from the local authority, Ministry of Education, trade union (SESTUZ), religious organisations, civic leaders, and staff from both academic and non-academic.

The Nkrumah University is divided into the following departments:

Campus

Nkrumah University has two campus locations. The main campus Munkoyo Street Campus is about 3 km from the Kabwe city center. Nkrumah University has recently acquired the PAID-ESA campus along the same street (Previously the Pan African Institute for Development - East/Southern Africa); this campus will help expand the capacity of the university.
