Nirmala Sitaraman (Tamil: நிர்மலா சீதாராமன் ) is an Indian Politician presently serving as a National Spokesperson for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).[1]

Early life and career

Nirmala Sitaraman graduated from Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College, Tiruchirapalli, TamilNadu in 1980.[2] Nirmala Sitaraman's M. Phil was in International Studies from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).

Nirmala Sitaraman worked with Pricewaterhouse Coopers as a Senior Manager (research and analysis). She worked for the BBC World Service for some time.

Nirmala Sitaraman is one of the founding directors of Pranava school in Hyderabad.[3]

Former Member of the National Commission for Women

Nirmala Sitaraman was a member of the National Commission for Women from 2003-2005.[citation needed]

Spokesperson of Bharatiya Janata Party

She works in a team of six spokespersons headed by Indian Supreme Court Lawyer Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad, the chief spokesperson of BJP.[citation needed]

Personal life

Nirmala Sitaraman is married to Dr.Parakala Prabhakar, a JNU and London School of Economics alumnus. He is a politician, political commentator, popular television anchor and an intellectual.[4] Presently Dr.Parakala Prabhakar is MD of RightFOLIO (www.rightfolio.co.in).[5]
