Nikolay Anatolyevich Kovalev (Russian: Николай Анатольевич Ковалёв; born 28 October 1986 in Vesyoly, Orenburg) is a Russian sabre fencer.

Kovalev won the bronze medal in the sabre team event at the 2006 World Fencing Championships after beating Hungary in the bronze medal match. He accomplished this with his team mates Aleksey Frosin, Stanislav Pozdnyakov and Aleksey Yakimenko.

He won the gold in men's saber team in the 2010 World Championships, defeating Italy by 45 to 41 with his team mates Aleksey Yakimenko, Artem Zanin and Veniamin Reshetnikov. At the 2011 World Championships they retained the title in men's sabre team defeating Belarus in the final.

On July 29, 2012, Day 3 of the 2012 London Olympics, he won the bronze medal in the individual sabre category. At the 2008 Beijing Olympics, he finished 4th in the team event.
