Nikolaos "Nikos" Karabelas (born 20 December 1984) is a Greek footballer who plays as a left back for Levante UD in La Liga.
Club career
Karabelas made his debut with his hometown team Paniliakos in the Beta Ethniki in 2004. After two seasons making good performances he joined Aris of Superleague in 2006. He gradually became a mainstay in the Aris starting 11. In 2009 he was eventually driven out of Aris after receiving threats from the club's fans following on from a missed penalty against PAOK F.C. in the Greek Cup semi-finals, which is one of the greatest rivalries in Greece.
On 10 June 2009 Karabelas was transferred to AEK Athens after 3 seasons with Aris, and signed a 4 year deal.[1] Dusan Bajevic, the then manager of AEK, knew the player from having managed him previously and stated that Karabelas had huge talent and was in his plans for AEK in the new season.
On 26 July 2012 Nikos signed with Levante UD for the next two seasons.[2]
International career
Karabelas was a member of the Greece U-21 national team. It has been reported that he has been in thoughts to be called up for Greece by Otto Rehhagel.
