Nidadavole, also known as Nidadavolu, is a town, railway junction, assembly constituency and a municipality in West Godavari district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. In Tretayuga it was called Niravadyapuram. A major canal from River Godavari passes through the town. The town is famous for a multitude of temples on the bank of the canal for which the bank is well known as "Chinna Kaasi Revu".
NIDADAVOLE is famous railway junction having train route to Bhimavaram, tanuku, palakollu, narasapuram, aakiveedu, gudivada etc.,
NIDADAVOLE is very important railway station to serve nearby important villages viz., Tanuku, Bhimavaram, Narsapuram, Chagallu, Kanuru, Velivennu, Kaaldari, Chandravaram, Mallavaram, Gowripalli, Nandamuru, Konala, Navabpalem, Marampalli, Settipeta, Muppavaram, Madduru, Vadapalli, Achanta, Marteru, Penugonda, Vogidi, Itampudi, Siddhantham, Koderu etc.,
Temples with historical background like Jamiya masjid, Golingeswaraalayam, Anjaneyaalayam, Someswaraalayam, Madanagopala Swamy Aalyam and the village deity (grama devata) Nangalamma Aalayam are spread in the centre of the town. There is a narration that Nangalamma wouldn't stay at her in-laws house which is located at Chinna Kaasi Revu and always goes back to her mother's place (Poori Gudi). Sri Kotasattemma Aalayam is also a very famous temple which is located in a village called Timmarajupalem, 2 KM away from the heart of the town.There is also a Sri Ramadas Ashram at Katakoteswaram village, which is located 7 km away from Nidadavole. The lord Someswars swami temple located in the Main road is a very old and renowned temple. Someswara temple is known for the great history.Many people has an excellent experiences with the lord in this temple. Currently temple is in renovation with the help of the Endowment depart and well known people in the Town started constructing Panchayathna with in the temple. The temple has an excellent and mind blowing and peaceful environment.Besides this we can also find large number of Masjids, Churches/prayer halls and a Jain temple which testifies for unity in diversity.
It was an important town prior to 1970, was a hub of commercial activities, transport(both road and canal), rice mills, etc.,. It was a revenue division in the district. Its decline started after the construction of road cum rail bridge at Rajahmundry and Siddantham bridge at Ravulapalem due to its topographical position, It lost its glory and neighbouring towns like Tanuku, Tadepalligudem emerged as nerve centers in the district of West Godavari as NH5 ran through them.
History
It was a fort surrounded by water bodies (Jaladurgam) of Eastern Chalukyan kings. Chalukya Bhima, the builder of Draksharama Bhimeswara temple won this land from Rastrakutas, the then ruling dynasty. Veerabhadra Chalukya, a ruler of this place married Rani Rudrama Devi, a prominent ruler and warrior princess of Kakatiya dynasty. It had 108 siva temples, many of them were totally destroyed by Md. Bin Tughlaq in 1323. Even today one can find the 6 feet destroyed sculptures of that age. A beautiful Nandi of 13th century placed in Sri Golingeswara temple was discovered in School building construction.
Climate
Nidadavole city falls in the hot humid region of the country. The climate of the city is hot in the summers and it is pleasant during the winter. The hottest day falls in the month of May with shift to June during some years.

Transport
Nidadavolu railway station is an important railway junction in West Godavari district. A branch line goes to Tanuku from the Visakhapatnam-Vijayawada section of Howrah-Chennai main line. Recently it has been upgraded to computerised ticketing service and reservation facilities. Almost all express services between Vijayawada and Visakhap atnam stop here.[2][3][4]
The Nidadavole overbridge of length 700 mts was constructed between 1990 and 1992 it was never officially opened till date and is being used since 1992 without any lighting.
Before the road and train networks were in place, transport was dependent on water. During that period Nidadavole Wharf became quite famous as the junction provided main line rail services to other parts of the country. After rapid development of road network, the prominence of water transport faded. Nidadavole Wharf is located opposite to Tadepalligudem railway gate.
APSRTC Tadepalligudem Depo operates bus services from Nidadavole to various places. Private travels such as Kaveri, Sindhu operate bus service to Hyderabad.
Many auto rickshaws also have there services to the people.
Transport services like Navata, SRMT provide daily and long parcel services.
Nidadavole is well connected with far away places like Hyderabad, Vizag, Vijayanagaram by bus and train.
Geography
Nidadavole is a mandal, assembly constituency and railway junction in West Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh, India.
Borders consist of East Godavari to the east, Devarapalli Mandal to the west, Tadepalligudem mandal and Peravali mandal to the south and Chagallu Mandal to the north.
Paddy is the main agriculture in Nidadavole besides Sugarcane. Many crops and vegetables grow in these region and water is available in plenty as major canal of Godavari passes through the town.
Weather in Nidadavole is moderate and experience severe hot in summer and cold in winter.

Development
After the opening of Nidadavole Overbridge in 1992, major traffic diverted towards Ganesh Chowk, Patimeeda. This effected businesses near the train station, bus station and Nehru bomma center.
At the moment Nidadavole is lagging behind in development. Towns near Nidadavole like Rajahmundry, Tanuku, Tadepalligudem are rapidly developing when compared to Nidadavole.
