Nicolaas Pieneman (1 January 1809, Amersfoort – 30 December 1860, Amsterdam) was a 19th-century painter and lithographer from the Northern Netherlands.

Biography

According to the RKD he was the son of Jan Willem Pieneman, who was his father's and Jean Baptiste Madou's pupil.[1] Nicolaas Pieneman was a friend of William II of the Netherlands, whom he painted during his inauguration in 1840.[2] His pupils were Jan Daniël Beijnon, Johannes Arnoldus Boland, Conradijn Cunaeus, Bernard te Gempt, Hendrik Hollander, Willem Johann Martens, Johan Heinrich Neuman, Jan Frederik Tack, and Antonie Frederik Zürcher.[1]
