Nicholas Breakspear School is a secondary school with academy status situated on the rural fringe of St Albans, an old Roman city in Hertfordshire, England. As of 2009 there were 1100 students on its roll, including 181 in the sixth form.[1]

Its GCSE results have risen in the past five years from below the national average to just below the average and is now 70%. The A2 Level pass rate is 99% A*-E and 46% A*-B. The AS pass rate is 88% A*-E and 33% A*-B. The school takes its name from the 12th Century priest Nicholas Breakspeare, who, as Pope Adrian IV, is the only Englishman ever to have occupied the papal chair. Its current headteacher is Mr Philip Jakszta, with the deputy headteacher being Mrs Whittle. [citation needed]

In March 2009 the school was rated Satisfactory by Ofsted, and in 2011 Satisfactory with outstanding features for pastoral care.[1]
