Ngarkat Conservation Park is in South Australia's south-eastern corner. It consists of Mallee vegetation on an area that was once a seabed. It is bordered by the Scorpion Springs, Mount Shaugh and Mount Rescue Conservation Parks, which constitute the "Ngarkat group" of conservation parks. The reserve is part of the Wyperfeld, Big Desert and Ngarkat Important Bird Area, identified as such by BirdLife International because of its importance for the conservation of Malleefowl and other species of mallee birds.[1]
