From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Newton Emerson is a political commentator and satirist in Northern Ireland. He describes himself as a 'liberal Unionist'.[1] He writes in two newspapers, the Daily Mirror, and The Irish News.[2] He also contributes to The Irish Times.

He first came to prominence as writer of the "Portadown News" website, similar to American publication, "The Onion". After being 'outed' by the Andersonstown News, he was forced to leave his job at a computer company,[1] but maintained the website until 2005.[3]
