New Moomin (新ムーミン Shin Mūmin) is the second anime TV series adaptation of the Moomin book series by the Finnish illustrator and writer Tove Jansson.[1] It is a remake to the 1969-1970 Moomin series, which was loosely based on the books It was produced in 1972 by Mushi Production and broadcast on Fuji TV.[1][2]
Production
The series was produced as a remake after the 1969-70 series was cancelled by Jansson's claim as it was radically different from how she wanted the series to be.[1] It was never broadcast outside of Japan.
Unlike its predecessor, the series was based more closely on the books.[1][3]
