Neusoft Corporation is a Chinese multinational provider of software engineering services, Information Technology services, product engineering services, IT education and medical equipment headquartered in Shenyang, China. It was founded in 1991 and, as of 2012, is the largest China-based software company measured by revenues. [citation needed]

Neusoft has established overseas subsidiaries in Japan, USA, Germany, Romania, Finland, Switzerland, Dubai and Peru. Service center offices spread across the Middle East, Europe, and South Asia.[citation needed]

Name

"Neusoft" is an acronym of Northeastern University Software.

History

Neusoft was founded by Northeastern University professors Dr. Liu Jiren and Li Huatian in 1988 as the Computer Software and Networks Engineering Research Laboratory of Northeastern University with a capital of RMB 30,000 ($500). Starting from the research lab, they began business cooperation with Japan's Alpine through technical export and software outsourcing, which made Alpine their first international customer[citation needed]

Incorporated at Northeastern University, China in 1991, Neusoft has rapidly expanded its scope from software and services, and IT education and training, to medical systems. In 1996, Neusoft became the first listed software company in China.[citation needed]

Neusoft is supported by a staff of over 23,000, providing products and services to 9,000 large-size customers in and outside of China. The company has branches in over forty cities throughout China, and 8 subsidiaries in Japan, USA, Germany, Romania, Finland, Switzerland, Dubai and Peru.[citation needed]

  • Telemedicine: Neusoft telemedicine are tele-consultation services and medical solutions, providing all levels of medical institution, medical professional and patient with telemedicine services and technical support. Since the official launch of the system in 2001, the annual number of consultations has reached more than 10,000 and the system has become an influential telemedicine platform for business operations in China.
  • Xikang: Xikang is an integrated all-life-cycle healthcare service platform that provides families and individuals with preventive care, remote monitoring, medical treatment, medicine allocation and health preservation. With medical equipment and IT network technology, it integrates the health need of the public and high-quality medical resources in hospitals, pharmacy chain stores, insurance institutes, fitness centers and large medical institutions.

Neusoft BPO services include Contact Center Service, Finance & Accounting Outsourcing (FAO), Human Resource Outsourcing (HRO), Web Content Management, and IT Support Service. These services cover a wide range of industries including IT, education, government, telecommunications, Internet, manufacturing, retail, consumer products, etc. [citation needed]

Medical Equipments

Neusoft's technology accumulation and R&D experience in the fields of embedded software, image reconstruction, and data processing has provided technical support to Neusoft and its partners in its development of medical equipment.

In 2004, Neusoft Medical Systems signed a joint venture with Philips (Netherlands) to develop and manufacture computed tomography (CT scanner), MRI, Ultrasound, and x-ray equipment.[citation needed]

IT Education

Neusoft operates four IT Education and Training institutes in Shenyang, Dalian, Chengdu, and Nanhai. The four industrial development bases and service platforms are collectively known as Neusoft Parks or Neusoft Institutes of Information. [citation needed]

The main university campus (where the company was founded) is Northeastern University Biomedical and Information Engineering School in Shenyang.

R&D and Innovation

Neusoft was founded at the Northeastern University in China and therefore has a strong connection towards R&D. Today, the company has six China based R&D centers and three in other countries, including the US, Japan and Vietnam. Next to its own R&D centers, Neusoft uses strategic alliances with external companies to generate new innovations. In 2009, the company filed around 45 patent and utility model applications.[4]
