Neil James (born in Briton Ferry, South Wales) is a Welsh professional rugby league footballer of the 1980s and '90s, playing at representative level for Great Britain, and at club level for Castleford, Halifax, Gold Coast-Tweed Giants, Leeds, and Sheffield Eagles, as a Prop, or Second-row. He commenced studying for a degree in Welsh at Cardiff University in 2007, but this study has since been discontinued.
International honours
Neil James won a cap for Great Britain while at Halifax in 1986 against France.[1]
Challenge Cup final appearances
Neil James played in Halifax's 19-18 victory over St. Helens in the 1986–87 Challenge Cup Final at Wembley Stadium on Saturday 2 May 1987, as a second-half substitute for Graham Beevers. He was in the starting line-up playing Left-Prop and scored a try in the 12-32 defeat to Wigan in the 1987–88 Challenge Cup Final at Wembley Stadium on Saturday 30 April 1988.
Rugby Football League Championship winner
Neil James made 34 appearances (4 as a substitute) in the second-row for Halifax in the 1985-86 League Championship winning season, scoring 3 tries in League matches and 1 in the Premiership Trophy.
