Negash Ali (born 27 November 1990) is a London-based Eritrean-Danish Artist & Songwriter signed to Warner Chappell Music. Negash have since 2006 released 3 Albums ( Majors, Asmarino, GettoPOP) and have worked with/written for names as Chris Brown, Bob Sinclar, Manu Dibango and many more.[1]

Life & Career

In 1990 during the conflict between Eritrea & Ethiopia, at the age of just 16 Negash’ mother was forced to flee to Denmark, having to make the tough decision of leaving her husband behind, who was working at a busy local hospital. Already mother to a 1 year old daughter and pregnant with Negash, she dreamt of a better life in Europe.

The family spent 5 years in various refugee camps before being granted asylum in 1995 and finally settling in Aarhus, Denmark. Negash spent his early years devoted to books and his passion for writing, already knowing he wanted to be an artist.

It paid off when he got his 1st artist development deal at the age of 13. Negash' national breakthrough came when he was 16 and joined the successful group Majors.

Majors & Asmarino

The breakthrough came when he was 16 and joined the successful group Majors, which also consisted of DMC winner Dj Noize. The album was critically acclaimed and the group performed at such places as Popkomm, Roskilde & Europe’s 2 biggest hip hop festivals, Splash & HipHopKemp.

The subsequent year Negash’ debut album ”Asmarino” was released in Denmark & the US. The album paved the way for performances in Los Angeles, Paris, London, Stockholm, Berlin and Cairo in cooperation with Livenation.

"GettoPOP" & Songwriting

His sophomore effort ”GettoPOP” was met with lavish reviews and a nomination for ”Best Urban Album Of The Year”. The 1st single "In This Club" was received well by radio and reached number 5 on the Urban DanceChart.

Negash' first placement as a songwriter is Jadakiss Ft. Chris Brown – ”Get Twisted”, where he wrote co-wrote the hook with the Danish producer team Pitchshifters. Which is slated to be the 1st single on Jadakiss’ upcoming album. This placement led Negash to signing an international publishing deal with Warner/Chappell Music. Since then Negash has worked with the likes of Lucas Secon (Christina Aguilera, Cee-Lo, Toni Braxton), Viktoria Hansen (Alicia Keys), Alexander James (Flo Rida, Jason Derulo), S-X (Tinie Tempah/Dappy), David Dawood (Blue, Busta Rhymes), Pantha (Cheryl Cole/Wiley), Focus (Charlie Brown) and many more.

"The African Dream"

"The African Dream" EP he believes is by far his best work to date. “

The African Dream concept deals with what it means to be raised among sharp contrasts; being from a traditional Muslim home and having been raised in a progressive western world. The feeling of not completely belonging to neither places but rather becoming a dynamic of the the two. The EP however touches on many subjects such as personal struggles, love, frustration, ambition etc.

"The African Dream" is released through his co-owned label 10Thousand Music.

Features

Negash have done features for several acts such as Outlandish, Kato, Morten Breum and many more.
