Nazanine Moshiri

Nazanine Moshiri is a broadcast journalist, currently working for Al Jazeera English.


Career

Al Jazeera English - Nairobi

At Al Jazeera English, Nazanine is a senior correspondent for Africa. She is based at the channel's bureau in Nairobi in Kenya and is sometimes described as an East Africa Correspondent, although she has reported from numerous locations beyond this region. In 2013, she filed reports from, amongst others: Tunisia, Mali, Guinea and the Central African Republic.

Al Jazeera English - London

Nazanine began her career with Al Jazeera English at the broadcast-centre for Europe, in London. She reported from Italy, following the earthquakes in L'Aquila and from South Ossetia, during the Russia-Georgia War.

ITV

Before joining Al Jazeera, Nazanine worked in London for ITN as a reporter and news-reader. She was a news-reader, on the early-morning ITV Morning News, and an anchor on the capital's early-evening local-news programme London Tonight.

Early career

Nazanine began her career in radio, as a reporter for Independent Radio News. She has also worked for the BBC and for Sky.

Personal life

Early life

Nazanine is the sister of Maryam Moshiri, who is also a broadcast journalist, working for the BBC. The sisters were born in Tehran in Iran and moved to the United Kingdom in 1978.

Education

Nazanine graduated from University College London, with an honours degree. She then trained in journalism at the University of Westminster.

As well as English and Farsi, Nazanine speaks Italian and French.
