Navin Prabhakar [1] is an Indian stand-up comedian, singer, actor and a mimicry artist. He is most known for his Pehchan Kaun (Mumbai bar girl) act on The Great Indian Laughter Challenge (2005),[2] which made him a household name.[3][4] Subsequently he also hosted a mimicry and stand-up show Hello Kaun? Pehchaan Kaun (2008-2009) on STAR One.[5]

Career

Navin, a commerce graduate from Mumbai University, began his career as a singer, then actor, then began experimenting with making people laugh. After getting good response in comedy deliveries, Navin decided to test himself at a national platform through the famous comedy show “The Great Indian Laughter Challenge” in 2005 which quickly made a name for himself with his trade-mark expression “Paichan Kon” of “Julie – the bar girl”. After this, he kept working on new ventures as a singer, actor, host, stand-up and mimicry artist.


Voice over

Navin has given voiceover in various films like “Mohabbat Ho Gayi Hai Tumse”, “Maine Dil Tujhko Diya”, “Nehle Pe Dehla”, “Champion” and “Ara Ara Aaba, Aata Tari Thamba”. He has done the voiceover for the song “Dhagala lagli kala”. He has also sung in Adnan Sami’s song “Lift Karade (Remix)” as a voiceover artist. The other albums that were further released were titled “Chor Chor”, “Spicy Mango”, “Jalwa Part II” and “Saangu Naka.”[6]

Singer

He cut out his first album, Pehchan Kaun.[7] He also sang the title track of the movie ‘Traffic Signal’ “Signal pe”[8] and "Chal Na Che Shor Machlein - Instrumental" for the movie Dhamaal.[9]

TV shows

Navin hosted a stand-up comedy show titled Hello Kaun? Pehchaan Kaun aired on Star One in December 27, 2008 – April 5, 2009.[10] He has been a celebrity judge on Sony Entertainment Television’s “Boogie Woogie” in 2008.[11] He also appeared in Rakhi Sawant's show "Ghazab Desh Ki Ajab Kahaaniyan" to meet one of his die hard fan on the show.[12]

Navin has also been travelling across the globe for various comedy show performances.[13] He has performed more than 2000 charity and corporate shows all over the world.[14]

Personal life

He married Seema Prabhakar in 2000.[15]
