Natixis Asset Management is a European asset manager with €286.5 billion in assets under management as of September 30, 2012 and 679 employees as of 30/06/2012 The company is based in Paris and it is the second biggest French manager by market share [1] Its clients are institutional investors, companies, private banks, distributors (multi-managers and financial advisers) and banking networks. It is one of the twenty affiliate of Natixis Global Asset Management

History

Created in 2007, Natixis Asset Management was born of the merger between Natexis Asset Management and Ixis Asset Management. Natexis, founded in 1998, was the asset management company of the Banque Populaire group; Ixis, founded in 1984, was the asset management company of the Caisse d’Epargne group.

Activities and Brand

The firm is structured around six autonomous business units:[2]

  • Fixed income: sovereign debt, inflation, corporate credit, structured credit, convertible bonds, long/short credit, money market instruments, aggregate.
  • European equities: active fundamental and value management of European large caps, European small & mid caps, insurance equities.
  • Investment and client solutions: : Global multi-asset class management and allocation under capital and liability constraint, Social liability and employee savings, Strategic advice and financial engineering solutions, insurance allocation.
  • Global emerging : Global emerging bonds, currencies, global emerging equities.
  • Structured products and volatility: handled by the dedicated investment division, Seeyond. Structured beta and guarantee, Model-driven equity management, Flexible asset allocation and active volatility management, Equity arbitrage.
  • Responsible investment, handled by the dedicated investment division, Mirova: Global thematic & sustainable development management, ESG Europe, employee savings and solidarity savings, Infrastructure funds, ESG research, voting and engagement.

Subsidiaries and strategic partnership

  • H2O Asset Management, a 50.01%-owned subsidiary of Natixis Asset Management, is a UK management company authorized by the FSA, created by Bruno Crastes and Vincent Chailley. The London-based company develops an alternative global macro multi-strategy approach and also manages international and emerging bonds.
  • Dorval Finance, owned 25% by Natixis Asset Management, specializes in flexible management, mainly dedicated to IFAs. Dorval Finance is headed by Louis Bert and Stéphane Furet.
  • VEGA Investment Managers is a portfolio management company owned 60% by Banque Privée 1818 and 40% by Natixis Asset Management. Total assets managed by the two companies was €6.5 billion as of 30 September 2012.
