Native Window is an American progressive rock spin-off band of the popular rock group Kansas.
History
Native Window was initially formed as a side project from Kansas. After their 1998 album Always Never the Same, Steve Walsh decided that he was finished with his writing career beside his two supposedly final albums, Glossolalia (2000) and Shadowman (2005). Although Kerry Livgren contributed songs to Somewhere to Elsewhere, a new studio album in 2000, Kansas was, for the most part, finished with recording new material, rather sticking to producing live albums. However, the four other members of Kansas from their 2006–present lineup, Phil Ehart, Rich Williams, Billy Greer, and David Ragsdale, were not finished recording new material, and decided to form Native Window for the opportunity to experiment with a new non-Kansas sound. They released their first self-titled album on June 23, 2009.
