Nathan Kahane is Co-founder of Good Universe, an independent full-service motion picture financing, production and global sales company.[1] Kahane has served as an executive producer on more than 25 films in his career[2] and oversees the development and production of the company's growing feature slate.[3]
Kahane oversaw the films Oldboy, directed by Spike Lee starring Josh Brolin, Elizabeth Olsen, and Sharlto Copley, and released by FilmDistrict in November 2013; the comedy Last Vegas, with partner CBS Films, released in November 2013, featuring an Academy Award winning cast including Michael Douglas, Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman, Kevin Kline and Mary Steenburgen. His upcoming work includes Mindy Kaling's The Low Self Esteem of Lizzie Gillespie, produced by Mr. Mudd Productions, with Anne Hathaway attached to star; Angelfall, produced by Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert; Cherries; and The Untitled Jamaica Project.[4]
Kahane is also partners with Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, and Joe Drake in Ghost House Pictures, a production label dedicated to the financing, development and release of films in the horror thriller genre.[5] Kahane oversees the daily operations of Ghost House and most recently executive produced The Possession, released by Lionsgate, and the upcoming Evil Dead remake to be released by Sony Pictures and FilmDistrict in April 2013.[6]
Career
Kahane formerly served as President of Mandate Pictures.[7] Prior to that, he served as Executive Vice President of Motion Pictures at the Los Angeles-based Senator International heading feature development and acquisition.[8] Before joining Senator International in 2002,[8] Kahane co-headed the development and production slate for The Canton Company, Mark Canton’s production company which was housed at Warner Bros., as Executive Vice President of Production.[9] While at The Canton Company, Kahane served as co-producer on the big-budget thriller Trapped, the joint venture with Senator International starring Charlize Theron, Kevin Bacon and Courtney Love, released through Columbia Pictures.[10] He also served as executive in charge of production for Angel Eyes (starring Jennifer Lopez) and Get Carter (starring Sylvester Stallone and Michael Caine) and packaged high-profile titles including Alexander and Troy.[11] Kahane served in a similar capacity for Taking Lives, the 2004 Warner Bros. mystery thriller which stars Angelina Jolie.[12]
Kahane is also an original founder of Ghost House Pictures alongside legendary filmmaker Sam Raimi, Robert Tapert and Joe Drake.[13]
Early life
Kahane is an alumnus of the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley, and started his entertainment career in the agent training program at ICM.[14]
