Nanhkan Township

Nanhkan Township aka NamHkam Township is a township of Mu Se District in the Shan State of eastern Burma. The principal town is Namhkam. It is not a big city. Nice place to live. Just a few miles away from Mu Se.
Shan and Kachin are majority in that area. There are Palaung Villages in NamHkam Township.[1]
According to a survey conducted in 16 villages, poppy cultivation increased from 812 acres (328 hectares) to 1535 acres (617 hectares) within 2006-7 season and 2008-9 season.[2]
Shan State Army-North (SSA-N) and Shan State National Army (SSNA) are active in that area.[3] Pansay Militia is one of eight influential militia groups.[4] Kyaw Myint, head of Pansay Militia, is selected as a USDP candidate of NamHkam for Shan State Hluttaw.[5][6]
