Nandor Guelmino (born December 20, 1975) is an Austrian mixed martial artist, who last competed in the Heavyweight division of the UFC. He has also had a one-fight stint in the Strikeforce organization.

Background

Guelmino is from Vienna, Austria and began Tae Kwon Do when he was 10 years old. At the age of 14 he received his black belt and at the age of 16 he received the 2nd dan. When he was 18, his school closed and he began weightlifting and watching UFC fights, fueling his passion for mixed martial arts. He worked as a bodyguard until he began fighting for the UFC.[3]

Early career

A veteran of the Eastern European MMA scene, Guelmino compiled an 11-3-1 professional record before signing with Strikeforce.

Strikeforce

In his Strikeforce debut, Guelmino fought Josh Barnett at Strikeforce: Marquardt vs. Saffiedine on January 12, 2013. Nandor Guelmino was on a seven win streak before his fight against Barnett. Guelmino was easily defeated via first round submission (Arm-Triangle Choke) by Barnett.[4][5]

Ultimate Fighting Championship

On January 31, 2013 it was announced that Guelmino had signed with the UFC[6]

Ultimate Fighting Champions

Guelmino was briefly linked to a bout with Derrick Lewis on August 28, 2013 at UFC on Fox Sports 1: 2.[7] However, Lewis was forced out of the bout with an injury. As a result, Guelmino was removed from the card and eventually made his debut against Daniel Omielańczuk on September 21, 2013 at UFC 165.[8] He lost the fight via knockout in the third round and was subsequently released from the promotion.[9]

22 march 2014 Guelmino will be fight on KSW 26 with Marcin Różalski in category Heavyweight.

Records

He was the MMA Austria Heavyweight Champion in November 2011[10] and 'World Freefight Challenge' Heavyweight Champion.[6]
