Nam Ji-hyun (born 9 January 1990) is a South Korean idol singer, dancer and actress. She's a member of the girl group 4Minute, formed by Cube Entertainment in 2009.

Biography

Ji-hyun was born on 9 January 1990 in Seoul, South Korea. She carries the nickname NamGee, Nam-GeeGee (NamJiji). She is currently attending Sangmyung University, Dance Major specifically in ballet. Ji-hyun was a trainee with JYP Entertainment for 2 years but then joined Cube Entertainment. She became the leader, vocalist and dancer of the girl group 4Minute.

Career

4Minute

Ji-hyun was announced by Cube Entertainment as a member and the leader of the group last May 2009 together with Kim Hyun-a, a former member of Wonder Girls. Cube Entertainment had released a teaser for their first single "Hot Issue" on 10 June while the single debuted on June 18. The group promoted the song from its release until August.

After a successful promotion period, the group released a new mini-album entitled HuH (Hit Your Heart) for their comeback on May 19, 2010. And after almost a year of hiatus, the group then released their first full length Korean album titled 4MINUTES LEFT. The album and their two lead promotional singles maintained their positions in the top 10 of many Korean REAL TIME Charts. After the promotions of their first full length album, the group focused on their Japanese activities.

And after more than a year of hiatus, the group finally made a comeback last April 9 with their third mini album, ‘Volume Up’ which topped music charts and made them one three times on music shows; two times on Show Champion and one time on M! Countdown.

Solo Activities

On October 14, 2010 Ji-hyun played a cameo role in thriller movie Late Night FM along with fellow band member Hyuna.[1]

On December 7, 2010 Ji-hyun made her acting debut in It's Okay, Daddy's Girl as Shin Sun Hae, a law student, a younger sister of Shin Seon Do, and also a friend of Hyuk Gi.[2]

Jihyun appeared in Lee Hyun's music video for "You Are the Best of My Life" on February 14, 2011 with Jung Juri. In the music video, Lee Hyun gets bewitched. He falls under the illusion that Jung Juri is Jihyun and falls in love with her.[3] [4]

Jihyun has been cast in MBC's weekend drama, A Thousand Kisses as Jang Soo Ah, the younger sister of Jang Woo Jin (Ryu Jin) is described to be the lovely and outgoing maknae daughter of a conglomerate, however, she’s also said to be a deep young woman who knows how to understand adults. [5]

On July 2012, she appeared in BTOB's Seo Eunkwang and Yoo Sungeun's music video, 'Love Virus' alongside Noh Jihoon; the two playing as a cute couple.

She was chosen to be making a special appearance on tvN‘s upcoming medical drama, The 3rd Hospital working alongside actor Oh Ji Ho. She earned the praise of the staff members after displaying her ability to focus during the time she was on set despite of the performance she had lined up for that day.

Jihyun was recently cast on a romantic TV show for tvN‘s love variety program, ‘The Romantic‘. ‘The Romantic’ has decided to conduct a spin-off entitled ‘The Romantic & Idol‘ for its third season. It has been revealed that eight idols were cast for the show and recently finished filming in Jeju-do. The celebrities were able to enjoy dates in cafes and go grocery store shopping while surrounded by the beautiful scenery of the island. ‘The Romantic & Idol’ premiered on November 11th.[6]

On February 13, 2013 Jihyun was casted in Idol Version of “Love and War 2″. In the idol version of “Love and War 2,” idol stars will act as the main characters to reenact the viewers’ stories. The idol version will most likely shed the heavy and serious atmosphere of the previous, original episodes and go for a lighter and brighter mood that suits the idols.[7] In “Love and War 2″ Jihyun will play the role of Seo Yeong, the best friend of Yoo Eun Chae (Jewelry’s Kim Yewon). Seo Yeong has feelings for Eun Chae’s husband Seo Min Jae (ZE:A’s Dongjun) whom she congratulated sincerely when the two got married.[8]

On July 30, 2013 was revealed that Jihyun will cameo on the Mnet's Monstar.[9]
