Nakul Dev Mahajan (born September 15, 1975) is an American Bollywood dancer and choreographer best known for his choreography on So You Think You Can Dance. He is the founder and artistic director of NDM Dance Productions and Studios, a Bollywood dance company based in Artesia, CA.

Early life and background

Born in Agra, India, in a Punjabi family,[1] Mahajan graduated the University of California, Riverside with a bachelor's degree in Sociology and Dance in 2002.[2]

Career

In 2003, he launched the NDM Bollywood Dance Productions and Studios, the first Bollywood dance school in the U.S., which has served over 3000 students since then.[3][4]

Nakul Dev Mahajan is the first choreographer who brings Bollywood to the So You Think You Can Dance stage. His routine for Season 4 by Katee Shean and Joshua Allen spent a week atop YouTube’s “Most Viewed” list.[5] Nakul was coaching team India at the Superstars of Dance on the NBC Network and choreographed six remaining crews at the ABDCrews (season 4).[6][7][8]

Nakul Dev Mahajan is heavily influenced by classical indian dances while bringing to them Western styles like hip-hop, Latin and jazz.[9] Due to his enormous activities in promoting Bollywood dance, Nakul is widely known as “Hollywood’s Favorite Bollywood Choreographer”.[10]
