Naked Capitalism

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Naked Capitalism is a blog published by Susan Webber, the principal of Aurora Advisors, Inc., a management consulting firm, and author of ECONned. Webber authors the blog under a pen name, Yves Smith. The blog deals with finance and economic news and analysis, with a focus on legal and ethical issues of the banking industry and the mortgage foreclosure process.[1] The blog reports on the worldwide effects of the banking crisis of 2008, the 2007–2012 global financial crisis, and the aftermath of all related events. Naked Capitalism has been critical of economic inequality and American politics.

Webber's use of Quelle surprise... (What a surprise!) has been cited as her catchphrase to voice her tongue-in-cheek disbelief of the actions that have become the subject matter of her blogs.[2]

The blog was ranked seventh in business authority by Technorati in 2011.[3] During 2011, Naked Capitalism was the third most visited business and economics blog on the web.[4]
