NLB Montenegrobanka is a bank in Montenegro. It was founded in 1905 as Crnogorska banka, and later renamed Montenegrobanka. Headquartered in Podgorica, the bank has 6 branches in and around the city, with additional branches in Nikšić, Bijelo Polje, Bar, Berane, Pljevlja, Herceg Novi, Rožaje, Kotor, Ulcinj, Budva, Cetinje, Tivat and Mojkovac. Nova Ljubljanska banka owns 91.5% of stock of the bank.

History

Modern day NLB Montenegrobanka considers itself a successor to the oldest commercial bank in Montenegro Crnogorska banka[1] that was founded in 1905 and has operated since off and on in various forms.

In May 2003, Slovenian Nova ljubljanska banka purchased the 91.5% stake in Montenegrobanka from the Government of Montenegro for 11 million, and promptly renamed it NLB Montenegrobanka.

In mid-2005, Nova ljubljanska banka (NLB) bought 80.29% stake in another bank operating in Montenegro - Euromarket banka. On January 1, 2006, NLB merged it into its existing operation NLB Montenegrobanka, thus increasing its presence and market stake in Montenegro.
