History
Modern day NLB Montenegrobanka considers itself a successor to the oldest commercial bank in Montenegro Crnogorska banka[1] that was founded in 1905 and has operated since off and on in various forms.
In May 2003, Slovenian Nova ljubljanska banka purchased the 91.5% stake in Montenegrobanka from the Government of Montenegro for €11 million, and promptly renamed it NLB Montenegrobanka.
In mid-2005, Nova ljubljanska banka (NLB) bought 80.29% stake in another bank operating in Montenegro - Euromarket banka. On January 1, 2006, NLB merged it into its existing operation NLB Montenegrobanka, thus increasing its presence and market stake in Montenegro.
