NHS Professionals

NHS Professionals is an organisation in the United Kingdom that supplies heathcare workers to the National Health Service (NHS). It is a limited company wholly owned by the Department of Health (DoH). It is responsible for providing over 40,000 doctors, nurses and administrative staff to NHS trusts.

Neil Lloyd is the Chief executive. His salary of £282,500 was said to to be the second highest in the English NHS in April 2011 .[1]

NHS Professionals was established in 2000 by the DoH to provide a central supply of temporary heathcare staff to the NHS. In 2004 its role was expanded and it became a Special Health Authority within the NHS. On 1 April 2010 it became a limited company owned by the DoH to allow it to compete more effectively with private sector employment agencies.[2]
