NEXTV is a Canadian-based IPTV provider that delivers digital television services via broadband. It launched in 2007 and is owned by Ethnic Channels Group, a Canadian ethnic broadcaster. NEXTV offers an array of multicultural channels to subscribers, via a set-top box and high speed Internet connection. In 2012, Ethnic Channels Group acquired a BDU license for the Greater Toronto Area.

Requirements

In order to receive the services offered by NEXTV, consumers require a high-speed Internet connection with a speed of at least 1.5Mbit/s and a set-top box which can be rented or purchased from NEXTV, or a LG Smart TV.

Availability

NEXTV is currently available to subscribers in Canada. In an effort to expand the service to other markets, NexTV licensed the trade name and brand to EURO-World Network, a distributor of ethnic channels in the US and Australia. In 2008, a US version of the service launched called NEXTV America. In 2011, an Australian and New Zealand version, NexTV Australia, offering subscribers various packages of ethnic services similar to those offered by NEXTV in Canada was launched.

NEXTV currently offers over 40 channels from Europe, Asia and North America. They currently offer packages catering to the following ethnic groups:

  • Russian- (Kino 1, Kino 2, HTB, Nashe Kino, Rossiya 24, RTR Planeta & RTVi)
