Project overview

The subject project involved construction of a flyover along Ferozepur Road at Canal/Wahdat road junction.In order to make Ferozepur Road a signal-free corridor in addition to streamline traffic coming from various parts of the city. The project was a stupendous task and a race between time frame and quantum of work. Before execution of project a foolproof traffic diversion plan was prepared and implemented to ensure smooth flow of traffic despite a huge traffic saddle. Informatory and warning signboards were placed on various routes coming towards the construction site for guidance of road users.

Scope of work

The project consists of four bridges, two along Ferozepur Road, an exit ramp towards Wahdat road, and a canal bridge for canal service roads. Flyover no. 1 is carrying Kalma Chowk Flyover bound traffic while Ichra bound traffic is being served through Flyover no. 2. Traffic coming from Kalma Chowk Flyover, bound to Wahdat road is making use of exit ramp. Canal bridge is for U-Turn. The structures consist of massive reinforced concrete piles, piers, transoms, I&L-shape pre-stressed girders, box girders and deck slab. Reinforced concrete retaining walls are designed to serve as ramps of flyovers. In addition to these structures various slip lane and service roads have been constructed at grade.
