Muri is a census town in Ranchi district in the Indian state of Jharkhand. It is an important railway junction.
Demographics
As of 2001 India census,[1] Muri had a population of 11,999. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Muri has an average literacy rate of 73%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 82%, and female literacy is 62%. In Muri, 12% of the population is under 6 years of age.
Transport
Muri Junction is the railway station serving the city of Muri.
Industry
Alumina Refinery plant of the Indian Aluminum Company, operating since 1938, is located here. The company is now owned by Hindalco Limited of Aditya Birla Group.
