Murashi

Murashi (Russian: Мураши) is a town and the administrative center of Murashinsky District of Kirov Oblast, Russia, located 112 kilometers (70 mi) northwest of Kirov on the Kirov–Syktyvkar highway. Population: 6,750 (2010 Census);[1] 7,650 (2002 Census);[2] 10,059 (1989 Census).[3]

History

It was founded in 1895 as a settlement due to the construction of the railway station on the Vyatka–Kotlas railway. It was granted town status in 1944.
