Mulchera is a town and a tehsil in Gadchiroli district in the Indian state of Maharashtra.
It is part of Gadchiroli Sub-division of Gadchiroli district along with Gadchiroli, Chamorshi and Dhanora tehsils.
Mulchera tehsil has one functional tehsil office and only one Police station for entire tehsil . Mulchera tehsil comprises 67 villages. Most of the people speak Bengali, Marathi, Hindi and local Madiya and Gondi languages. Best time to visit Mulchera and nearby area is from October to January. Weather remains cool during October to January, but from March to August, it is extremely hot. Villagers celebrate many festivals throughout the year. Main celebrations like Durga Puja, Deepawali, KaliPuja and LaxmiPuja etc. etc. Mulchera and nearby villages are surrounded by deep forests, so wild animals are normally spotted around the forests. From Ashti to Sundarnagar via Mulchera, good roads are built for transportation. However, accessing to all villages by vehicle is not possible all the season, especially on rainy time. There are few villages like Mukdi, Gathya where even entering to villages using vehicles are not possible due to poor roads. On rainy season, roads are normally full of mud and water in the man holes. Another severe problem with this tehsil is poor electricity supply. There is frequent cut in electricity. There is only one govt. hospital in Mulchera, but with not adequate facilities.
Most of villagers, depend on paddy field for their yearly livelywood. However, all farmers can't grow paddy due to shortage of water.. They all depend on rainy god for cultivating paddy fields. There is no such dam or water harvesting projects for farmers. During Janta Govt. in 1977, Chenna River projects was sanctioned and works got started to build a dam to store water, would have used by farmers for cultivation throughout the year. However. after falling of Janta govt. from centre, that project got scratched. Every leader, from whichever party comes during election time, and makes false promise to restart cheena river project and after winning the election, they make fool to gullible villagers.
Sundarnagar village under Mulchera tehsil, has got small market for vegetables, groceries, clothes and home appliances. Nearby villagers around Sundarnagar, use to get goods from Sundarnagar market. However, in almost each villages, there is weekly market, (local HAAT), that is, all merchandisers come to sell their goods to that market in weekly once. The day of the week is decided by Tahsil office and known to assigned and nearby villages. An weekly market (Haat) is also available at Srinagar (Mohurli) village on each Saturday and it is gaining popularity day by day because lot of merchandiser from different area use to come to this weekly market to sell fresh vegetables, fish, meat products and other groceries items. Normally large number of people from surrounding villages like Mohurli, Srinagar, Devnagar, Mallera, depend on Srinagar / Mahurli weekly market.
There is a good school at sundarnagar, i.e. Netaji Subhash Chandra High School. This school was started in 1984 by the efforts of local villagers guided by Mr Hakim and Shri MS Gayen, then principal of that school. NSC high school is regarded one of the best school of Mulchera tehsil . Many students from nearby tehsils and Districts come for study there. Teaching staff of that school are highly qualified. NSC school has produced few bright students and some ex-students of NSC school are in well known position in the industry. Few are engineers, doctors, lecturers and in IT professions. Some of ex-students of NSC school who are in well known position in the industry, even visited foreign countries like UK, USA and JAPAN for upgrading their professional career.
