Mtarfa F.C. is the football club from the locality of Mtarfa, the home of a former big British forces barracks area in northern Malta. Founded in 2006, the club took part in the Maltese Third Division for the first time in their history in the 07/08 season. They have entered the Malta Football Association in lieu of Ta' Xbiex F.C, who lost their status due to their consistent poor results in the lowest of Maltese divisions.

Achievements

Winners of the Roger Strickland Cup; Mtarfa reclaimed the Strickland Cup on TUESDAY, JANUARY 3, 2012 after a dramatic game against Marsaskala. Mtarfa FC, for the second consecutive year are champions of the Roger Strickland cup after defeating Marsascala in a dramatic end of match. During the first half both teams offered great football in front a good sizeable crowd, the difference between both teams was very minimal and until the end of the first half the score remained goal less. Ten minutes into the second half, Mtarfa captain Roderick Sammut was shown the red card and expelled, although in ten both teams remained well balance and both created various opportunity of goals. Until on the 86 minute, Mtarfa were awarded a penalty follow a foul committed on player Francesco Azzopardi, his team mate Omar Smier from the penalty spots did not miss and open a momentary lead for Mtarfa. When all hopes for Marsascala seemed to be coming to an end on the 92 minute player Eboa Ahmadow equalised the match by header after receiving a direct cross from the corner kick. The match ended 1-1 and teams went for the penalty shoot out. For Mtarfa scored: Giorgio Cumbo, Omar Smier, Jean Paul Ciantar, Julian Fenech and Jeffrey Azzopardi. While Francesco Azzopardi failed the only penalty for the yellow and green stripes. For Marsaskala scored: Hori Pace, Felix Peplow, Ennio Desira, Jonathan Debono and Eboa Ahmadow. While Anthony Zahra and Adrian Domenicus missed from penalty spot. Final score Marsaskala Mtarfa vs 1-1 (7-6 after penalties)In the other match valid for the third and fourth place Swieqi United defeated Qrendi with the score of 3-1, for Swieq scored Ivan Scicluna (2) and Timothy Hampton while for Qrendi scored Julian Camilleri, all goals were scored during the first half. Final score 1-3 Qrendi vs Swieqi. All matches were played at the Victor Tedesco Stadium (Hamrun) under the auspicious of the MFA. This trophy is organized by Swieqi United together with Mtarfa FC and sponsored by Roger Strickland.

2006

Mtarfa F.C. is the Maltese football club representing the locality of Mtarfa. The idea to develop a new football club generates from a small group of football enthusiast. Founder and first President Joseph Vassallo together with the first committee in 2006 founded the MTARFA FOOTBALL CLUB. The official kit colours were extracted from the locality official flag - Yellow and Green Striped shirt for the first gear, and White with Blue as the second Gear. The Club logo was selected during an open competition and it was chosen that of Mr. Joseph Galea,

2007

In 2007 the club was recognised and affiliated with the Malta Football Association, given the right to compete in the Malta National League, third Division League. First coach was Mr. Joe Borg and inauguration match was against Melita.

The club anthem was written and composed by Mr. Joseph Mary Mifsud

2008

The Mtarfa Youth Nursery was founded with Joseph Vassallo , Ian Sansone and Paul Mifsud formed the first committee and in charge of the young age group.

2009

The demand from players to register with the club forced the committee to increased more age categories and trainers . The 2009 was formed two new categories the U/19 coached by Angelo Borg and the U/15 coached by William Galea. The U/13 coached by Ian Sansone and the U/11 coached by Anton Francalanza, all these coaches wrote their name in the club History as the First trainers to coach in these categories.

2010

The club achieved the first artificial synthetic Nursery Ground in the parameters of the ex Royal Navy Bruce Hospitals and a Club House in the centre of Mtarfa.
