Fictional character biography

Mrs. Swink is a woman who lives on Ramona's street. Ramona notes that Mrs. Swink is one of those elderly ladies who always wears pants suits.

Ramona meets Mrs. Swink when Beezus has to interview her for a school report. Beezus does not get a very amazing story, but both she and Ramona come out of it with a new friend.

Even though Mrs. Swink calls Ramona "Juanita," she is fascinated to learn that Mrs. Swink used to go around on tin can stilts and call other children "pieface" when she was young. When Ramona and Howie Kemp made their own tin can stilts, Ramona startled Howie by calling Mrs. Swink "pieface."

Mrs. Swink called her "pieface" right back, understanding Ramona's joke as well as securing her reputation as a "hip" old lady.
