Moyarta

Moyarta is a civil parish in County Clare, Ireland. The civil parish of Moyarta contains the townlands of Moyarta East and West and is situated in the Barony of Moyarta. The Moyarta River flows through the parish. The civil parish of Moyarta is bounded on the west by the civil parish of Kilballyowen, on the north by the Atlantic Ocean and by the civil parish of Kilfearagh, and on the south and east by the Shannon Estuary.[1] It includes the villages of Carrigaholt and Doonaha and their hinterland on the Loop Head peninsula between the Shannon estuary and the Atlantic Ocean in west Clare.

The titles of Viscount Clare and Baron Moyarta were conferred on Daniel O'Brien, a younger son of Connor O'Brien, 3rd Earl of Thomond, on 11 July 1662.
