Tauranga City United AFC is a semi-professional football (soccer) club in Tauranga, New Zealand. They compete in the Lotto Sport Italia NRFL Division 2.
It was formed in 2000 from a merger of Tauranga City F.C. and Mount Maunganui F.C.
Club history
TCU's best Chatham Cup season was in 2002, when they reached the final, only to be defeated by Napier City Rovers 2-0. Mount Maunganui FC had previously reached the final in 1986, losing a two-legged tie to North Shore United 4-2 on aggregate.
Mount Maunganui played in the New Zealand National Soccer League from 1986 to 1992; Tauranga City United played in the league from 2000 to 2003.
