Mount Lebanon (Arabic: جبل لبنان Ǧabal Libnān) is one of the Governorates of Lebanon. Its capital is Baabda. The majority of its population is Christian, chiefly Maronites, Greek Orthodox, and Melkite Greek Catholics. However, there are also many Muslim and Druze residents.
This governorate is named after the mountain of Mount Lebanon which spans also across the North Governorate and South Governorate.
Districts
The governorate is divided into 6 districts (Aqdya, singular - qadaa or Caza) which are:
- Baabda (Baabda) قضاء بعبدا
- Aley (Aley) قضاء عاليه
- Matn (Jdeideh) قضاء المتن
- Keserwan (Jounieh) قضاء كسروان
- Chouf (Beiteddine) قضاء الشوف
- Jbeil (Byblos) قضاء جبيل
Religion in Mount Lebanon Governorate
Christians are the majority with 84.32% of the population; Druze are second with 8.47%; Sunnis are third with 4.21%; Shia are last with 3%.
