From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Bistra (Macedonian: Бистра) is a mountain in the Republic of Macedonia. The mountain has many peaks higher than 2,000 meters, with the highest peak being Medenica Peak, at 2,163 meters above sea level.
Limestone erosion on the mountain created limestone fields. On the limestone area of Bistra Mountain, there are fourteen limestone fields: Tonivoda, Govedarnik, Bardaš, Sultanica, Solomunica, Suvo Pole, Small and Big Brzovec, Čukni Topanica, Lower and Upper Poljce, Tri Bari, Tri Groba and Lazaropole. The most popular caves on the mountain are Alilica and Kalina Dupka.[citation needed]
A large part of the mountain is included within the boundaries of the Mavrovo National Park.
