Mounir Majidi (Arabic: منير الماجيدي – born 10 January 1965, Rabat)[1][2] is a senior member of Mohammed VI's royal cabinet and the personal secretary of the monarch, in charge of managing the royal financial holdings (SIGER which holds participations in the Société Nationale d'Investissement).[2][3][4][5][6]
Majidi has been described by a leaked diplomatic cable as one of the top-3 most influential people in Morocco (in addition to the King himself and Fouad Ali El Himma)[7]
Early life
Mounir Majidi was a classmate of Mohammed VI's late cousin "Nawfal Osman", the son of Ahmed Osman and Princess Lalla Nuzha (a sister of Hassan II).[3] He studied computer science in Strasbourg, France where he worked at Sagem and settled for some years before going to New York where he completed an MBA at the Pace University.[3] Back to Morocco he worked at various ONA-owned companies before founding an advertising company (FC COM or FC Holding). After the enthronement of Mohammed VI he was nominated at his current position.[3]
Business
Mounir Majidi is involved in a number of businesses, most of them are related to his management of the King's shares at ONA and FC Com the advertsing company.[3] Additionally, he heads the music festival of Rabat, Mawazine – through the "Maroc Culture Association" which he presides –. He was also president of Rabat-based football club FUS Rabat,[3][8] and the president and founder of Mohammed VI's football Academy (Académie Mohammed VI de football).[9]
He is the CEO of SIGER, a holding company which belong to Mohammed VI and controls shares in companies such as Les Domaines Agricoles and SNI.
Controversy
Mounir Majidi was accused of several million-dollar corruption cases by French newspaper "Le Monde" and by Moroccan independent newspapers, but no trial was brought against him in Morocco. [10] [11]
