Mose Masoe (born 17 May 1989) is a New Zealand professional rugby league footballer of Samoan descent who plays for the Penrith Panthers of the National Rugby League. He primarily plays prop, second-row and lock. Masoe is famed for his big hits and injuring players with his might and size.

Playing career

Born in Wellington, New Zealand to Samoan Parents, Masoe played his junior football for the Randwick Kingfishers in the Wellington Rugby League competition and the Wellington Orcas in the Bartercard Cup[1] before being signed by the Sydney Roosters. He played for Roosters' NYC team in 2008 and 2009, scoring 2 tries in 17 games[2] before moving on to the Roosters' NSW Cup reserve-grade team, the Newtown Jets.

In Round 12 of 2010 NRL season he made his NRL debut for the Sydney Roosters against the Gold Coast Titans.

Masoe was part of the Newtown Jets team that won the 2012 NSW State Cup competition.

On 7 December 2012, Masoe signed a 2-year contract with the Penrith Panthers starting in 2013.[3]

On 26 June 2013, Masoe signed a 2-year contract with English Super League team St. Helens RLFC starting in 2014 after being released from the final year of his Panthers contract. He will also be joining with current Penrith Panthers team member Luke Walsh who has also signed a 2-year contract with the saints.[4][5]

Representative career

Masoe has played for the Junior Kiwis.

During the 2010 and 2013 season Masoe was selected in the Samoan and New Zealand train on squads. Due to Masoe's exceptional performance in the 2013 season Mose Masoe was selected in the Samoan squad. [6][7]
