Morgan Ciprès (born 24 April 1991) is a French pair skater. With partner Vanessa James, he is a two-time French national champion, has won four international medals, and has finished in the top ten at both the European and World Championships.

Earlier in his career, he competed as a single skater and placed 13th at the 2010 World Junior Championships.

Career

Early career

Ciprès initially competed in single skating. He missed the 2007–08 season due to an adductor muscle injury.[1] He placed 13th at the 2010 World Junior Championships.

Pairs career

In September 2010, Ciprès switched to pair skating and formed a partnership with Vanessa James. They currently train at Bercy with coach Jean-Roland Racle and hope to represent France at the 2014 Winter Olympics.[2]

James and Ciprès competed at the 2011 Coupe de Nice and the 2011 Ondrej Nepela Memorial, finishing 5th in both events. Their first Grand Prix together was the 2011 Trophee Eric Bompard; they came in 8th. They were the silver medalists at the 2012 French Nationals.

At the 2012 European Championships, James and Ciprès were 8th in the short program and 6th in the free skating, finishing 6th overall. They went on to place 16th at the 2012 World Championships.

James and Ciprès won the bronze medal at the 2012 Nebelhorn Trophy. It was their first international medal as a pair.[3] Their 2012 Grand Prix assignments were Skate America and the Trophee Eric Bompard; they finished 4th and 6th, respectively. They won another international medal at the 2012 NRW Trophy and followed that with their first national title in December. They then finished 4th at the 2013 Europeans and 8th at the 2013 Worlds, both career highs. They also won the 2013 International Challenge Cup.

For the 2013 Grand Prix, James and Ciprès were again assigned to Skate America and the Trophee Eric Bompard. They missed Skate America because Ciprès suffered a wrist injury that required surgery.[4] They returned in time for the Trophee Eric Bompard, where they placed fifth. In December, James and Ciprès successfully defended their national title. At the 2014 Europeans, they set personal best scores in both segments of the competition and placed fifth.
