Morag Siller (born 1 November 1969), is a Scottish TV and film actress, voice-over artist, and radio presenter.
Biography
Early life and education
Siller was born in Edinburgh, Scotland.[1] She was adopted at the age of three with her twin brother.[2] At school she wanted to be a pianist but realised she would never be good enough to be professional. Next she wanted to be a policewoman but couldn’t apply as she was too short![3] She is 5′3" and had to be 5′4".
At school she had been in plays only to get out of classes when they were rehearsing but when she left school after attending the Edinburgh Acting School part-time, she moved down to London at 18. She attended the Sylvia Young Theatre School[3] and then went to classes at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and a summer school. Before she had finished studying she was lucky enough to land a small part in the David Puttnam film Memphis Belle.[1][4]
Acting career
Since 1992 Siller has performed in films, West End theatre, television and radio. In 2000 she fulfilled an ambition by writing and co-directing a comedy sketch show The Brushed Forward Arrangement.
She has appeared in numerous television commercials and pop videos (Morrissey, Holly Johnson, Thompson Twins and Comic Relief).
She created semi regular roles on television such as Flora Kilwillie in Monarch of the Glen,[4] Marilyn Dingle in Emmerdale[3] and Leona in Casualty,[1](for which she won AOL’s award for Best Dramatic Performance in a Television Series in 2000) Siller tried a new challenge by appearing in a musical. This had also been a secret ambition of hers! She performed in Les Misérables and Mamma Mia!.[5] She also played Karen alongside Maureen Lipman and Anne Reid in the ITV comedy drama Ladies of Letters.
Personal life
In May 2005, Siller married her long term partner.,[6] classical musician Tim Nicholson. The couple currently live in Cheshire, England.[2]
