Moishe's Moving Systems

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

''Moishe’s Moving Systems" is a moving company that offers local and long distance moving services, self-storage, and mobile storage. Moishe's is the first "green" moving company on the East Coast.

History

The company was founded in 1983 by an Israeli businessman, Moishe Mana. [1] By 1990, it had become the largest independent moving company in New York City. By 1995, they were the largest in the entire tri-state area. Today, they operate from regional offices across the country with hundreds of employees.

In a widely reported, New York City "Rags to Riches" story,[2] Moishe Mana began as a “man with a van.” Today, Moishe’s Moving owns a conglomerate of 15 companies including Moishe’s Guarantee Asset Management, Mana Fine Arts, Moishe’s Guarantee Wine Storage, GRM Document Management, Moishe’s Self Storage and Moishe's Mobile Storage.[3]

The company offers "green" solutions in moving and storage through the Trees for the Future program, Moishe's Box Exchange, biodegradable boxes, and environmentally friendly trucks.

Moishe Mana’s company and story have been featured on NBC’s Today Show, New York Magazine, The Daily News, Newsday, The NY Times, The New York Post, Arsenio Hall Show, Sally Jesse Raphael Show, and Good Day New York.[4]

Awards and recognition

CitySearch named Moishe's Best Winner for 2007. Moishe's was featured in New York Magazine's "Smart City Smooth Moves" column: “Moishe's bright-red trucks are so conspicuous around the five boroughs that TV and movie crews are beginning to use them as symbols of the city.”
