Mohlakeng is a township south of Randfontein in Gauteng, South Africa. A local authority was established in 1984. Mohlakeng is where the large part of the Randfontein population is situated. It lies 7 kilometres south of Randfontein, and around 38 kilometres West of Johannesburg. Mohlakeng has now grown about 15% in size in 2012 as compared to 2002. The Executive Mayor of The West Rand District Municipality hails from Mohlakeng. Other well-known people that come from Mohlakeng include:

Terror Mathebula WBA lightweight boxing champion, Oupa Manyisa (Orlando Pirates Football Player) Donald Khuse (Kaizer Chiefs Football Legend) Dr. Mageu (Deceased Kwaito Singer) and the late Pule Ace Ntsoelengoe.

There are four high schools and eight primary schools in Mohlakeng. The community is served with a Post Office, Police Station, a refurbished Ramosa Hall and a Recreation Centre. Mohlakeng is surrounded by Soweto in the East, Randfontein/Krugersdorp in the North and Westonaria in the South. Mohlakeng is accessible by the R28 Main Reef Road and the R559 Main Road. With the Gauteng Government's Vision 2016, Mohlakeng, together with the surrounding townships and Local Municipalities (Mogale City, Westonaria, Merafong City and Randfontein) will be combined to create a new West Rand Metro by 2016. Roodepoort however, will remain part of the City of Johannesburg.

Mohlakeng is known for its popular shebeens such as La Coste Joint, Three Sisters and Lapologa. Night life is very vibrant on a weekend and it was recently recorded that the township has one of the largest alcohol consuming community in the West Rand district of the Gauteng Province.
