Mohit Malhotra is an Indian model and actor best known for his role as Birju in Star Plus' Mitwa Phool Kamal Ke, Sid in Sasural Genda Phool, Kartik in Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, and Vihaan Ruia in Kya Huaa Tera Vaada.[1] He has also appeared in numerous print advertisements and commercials.

Personal life

Hailing from New Dehli, Mohit is the younger brother of Himmanshoo Malhotra. He graduated from Delhi University with honors and also attended the University of California, Berkeley.[2] Mohit attended Georgetown University, McDonough School of Business, to obtain an MBA but left the school prior to completing his degree in order to pursue his passion for acting.[3]

Career

Mohit started his career with reality show Spitsvilla 2, later he played the lead role of Birju in Mitwa Phool Kamal Ke.[4] His role in Mitwa led to his nomination for Best Fresh New Face (Male) at the 10th Indian Telly Award.[5] After Mitwa, Mohit rejoined Star Plus on its show Sasural Genda Phool playing the role of Sid, a model, as the love interest for Ragini Khanna's character.[6] Mohit has appeared in numerous print ads (including Samsung, Mayur Suitings, Castrol, Pepsi, Minute Maid, Royal Enfield, Convergys, Aircel, Vmart, Jet Airways, Croma, Niit, Brand Factory) and television advertisements (Mazaa, Samsung Mobile, Toyota Etios Liva, Colgate, Spraymint, Mobilink, and Ponds).[7][8][9][10][11]

In 2011, he appeared with Yashashree Masurkar in Nachle Ve, Season 3.[12] In 2011,he was cast in Bade Achhe Lagte Hain playing the role of Kartik Sharma. He left the show in September 2012.[13] Next, he joined the cast of Kya Hua Tera Vaada playing the parallel male lead role of Vihaan Ruia.[13] He joined the Dance Reality Show India's Dancing Superstar as host but was later replaced by Ravi Dubey.[14] Mohit was also a part of Bindass Mentals.[15]
