Mindi is a suburb in visakhapatnam with a population of around 7000. Most of the people are state and central government employees and their families.

Location

It is located 18 kilometres (11 mi) from the city of Visakhapatnam and 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) from the town of Gajuwaka. It is well connected by roads.

History

The village was once a major Panchayithy and later merged with Gajuwaka Municipality (ward no. 2) when the latter was created and then again merged with the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (ward no. 65) (GVMC) along with the rest of Gajuwaka Municipality.

There are several state and central government organisations in and around the place.

Festivals

Every year. Sankranthi, Dussehra and Vinayaka Chaviti are grandly celebrated here. Apart from the yearly festivals, the Durga Devi festival is celebrated very grandly every four years.

Politics

Compared to other areas, the people are highly active in politics. The village was dominated by Communists, both CPI and CPM.shri Gudivada malla rao garu CPI has completed 12 yrs as surpanch of this village. Later most people switched to the Indian National Congress when the late Shri G Appanna garu became the 1st MLA from the Pendurthy constituency.after his son sri G.gurunadha rao garu also became MIA,M.P,and also as educational minister.in this village most 90% of people belongs to KAPU(TELAGA) caste.
