Background and musical structure
Before the song's release, September took part in the Swedish television program Så mycket bättre ("So much better") from October though December 2010. For each episode of the show, participating singers sang their own versions of other singers' songs that were also part of the show. "Mikrofonkåt" was originally a slow rap song by Swedish rapper Petter, which September sang to new upbeat dance music. The song has a Euro-dance beat, with strong elements of pop.
Live performances
September had previously performed the song on the episode of Så mycket bättre where the contestants had to perform songs by Petter on 7 November 2010, before announcing that it would be released as a single.[3]
