Mike Wolfer is a comic book artist. He was a big fan of comics and after high school went to The Kubert School.[1]
He started his career in 1986 ”before you were even probably born”[2] with work in Dark Horse Presents #47. Then he self-published 'Daikazu' (an 8 issue series) released by 'Ground Zero Comics' on 1 March 1987.[3]
He has been both writer and illustrator on many of Avatar Press most popular titles, collaborating with many renowned writers including Warren Ellis, Garth Ennis and Alan Moore. He has worked on horror titles as 'Night of the Living Dead',[4] Friday the 13th, and Escape of the Living Dead. His work on supernatural tales, continued with his writing credits on Warren Ellis's Gravel[5] and Garth Ennis's 'Stitched',[6] both of which he also illustrated. Then Mike started writing 'Stitched' in September 2012.,[7] He has also worked for Avatar's sister company, 'Boundless Comics', where he writes both Brian Pulido's Lady Death and the bad girl title, 'War Goddess'.[8]
Controversially, 'Lady Death' was nominated for 'Sexist Or Racist Or Homophobic Comic Of The Year' at the 2011 'The C2E2 Bleeding Cool Awards'.[9]
He also moderates Lady Death and War Goddess's Facebook pages, which he enjoys interacting with the fans.[6]
