Personal life

Michael Humpal (born February 17, 1985 in New Hampton, Iowa) is an American football linebacker who is currently a free agent. He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League in the sixth round of the 2008 NFL Draft. He played college football at Iowa. He was born to the parents of Reggie and Nancy Humpal.

College career

He recorded 49 tackles in 2006 as a junior, and had a breakout season in his senior season (2007) recording 123 tackles, 5.5 tackles for a loss, and 3 interceptions.

Professional career

Pittsburgh Steelers

Humpal was injured when the Steelers cut him, and no teams signed him, he was once again picked up by the Steelers and placed on Injured reserve.[1] He played college football at Iowa. Nicknamed 'Turd Furgeson' by his teammates. The origin of the nickname remains unknown.

On February 26, 2009, Humpal was released by the Steelers.
