Michele Catherine Boyd is an American actress, producer and host.
Personal background
Boyd was born to a Navy family and thus spent much of her life traveling. She lived all over the United States as well as Italy and Japan before going to high school in San Diego. She was involved in school musicals from a very early age up through high school, performing in everything from The King and I to Cats. Boyd was a competitive swimmer since the age of 6, eventually competing in the California Interscholastic Federation Swimming and Diving events. Boyd also has worked as a snowboarding instructor and holds a green belt in hapkido.
She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavior from the University of California, Davis.[1] Before settling into her career as an actress, she did neuroscience research at Harvard Medical School and the National Institute of Health.[1]
Career
After receiving her bachelor's degree, Boyd modeled in New York City while taking more formal acting classes at HB Studio. She moved to Los Angeles and has since landed roles on television shows Sons of Anarchy and The Young and the Restless, as well as utilizing her science background to host the show Machines of Malice on the Discovery Channel. She played Jolene in the "Robots vs. Wrestlers" episode of How I Met Your Mother.[2] She is also a Nickelodeon show favorite, guest starring on the shows iCarly, True Jackson, VP and Big Time Rush.
Boyd has also appeared in many digital media projects, joining the cast of The Guild in the middle of season two and continuing to appear throughout season three. Her Guild character, Riley, is based on her Team Unicorn partner, Rileah Vanderbilt, which is how the two became friends.[3] In 2010, Boyd along with Milynn Sarley, Clare Grant & Rileah Vanderbilt under the group name Team Unicorn,[4] co-wrote & produced G33k & G4m3r Girls(Geek and Gamer Girls), a parody of Katy Perry's California Gurls song.[5] The music video for the song achieved one million views in its first week.[6] She has also modeled for the J!NX female gamers clothing line and was named one of GeekWeek's "10 Hottest Geek Girls".[7] Boyd was also referenced in Diablo III from Blizzard Entertainment as a rare unicorn character named "Miss Hell" alongside other Team Unicorn members.
While continuing Team Unicorn productions and other acting jobs, Boyd currently hosts the Stage 5 TV webshow "Game Changers" on YouTube. The show is a Top Gear/Mythbusters style reality show that takes video game tropes and tries them out in the real world.
