Michel Kitabdjian

Michel Kitabdjian (born 7 May 1930 in Nice) was the French referee who officiated the infamous 1975 European Cup Final between Leeds United and Bayern Munich in which he had disallowed a goal by Leeds United's Peter Lorimer for offside and denied Leeds two penalty appeals as Franz Beckenbauer first handled the ball in the box and then brought down Allan Clarke in a tackle. This instigated the Leeds fans to riot.[1]

Kitabdjian also served as a FIFA referee. He officiated at the 1968 Olympic tournament in Mexico City,[2] as well as qualifiers for the 1966,[3] 1970,[4] 1974,[5] and 1978 World Cups[6] and the 1968,[7] 1972,[8] and 1976[9] European Championships.
